Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Snoop Dogg, Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts,Ben Stiller, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Justin Timberlake, Encourage “Five More Friends” to Vote

Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Snoop Dogg, Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, Ben Stiller, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Justin Timberlake, along with Sacha Baron Cohen as “Borat,” Zach Braff, Colin Farrell, Neil Patrick Harris, Scarlett Johansson, Shia LeBeouf, Tobey Maguire, Ryan Reynolds, and Jason Segal, are featured in a second of a series of public service announcements to encourage American youth to vote in partnership with Google, YouTube, Declare Yourself, and MySpace. The non-partisan PSA’s, produced by DiCaprio’s Appian Way, were created to engage and inspire young people to vote and participate in the upcoming election.

The celebrities appearing in this new spot join a lineup of others who appeared in the first “Hollywood Declares Themselves” PSA, all of whom who were brought together by Leonardo DiCaprio, Forest Whitaker, Tobey Maguire, and will i. am. Others featured include: Amy Adams, Tatyana Ali, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Bacon, Maria Bello, Halle Berry, Selma Blair, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Connolly, Courteney Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Jaime Foxx, Jonah Hill, Dustin Hoffman, Djimon Hounsou, Anthony Kiedis, Ashton Kutcher, Adam Levine, Laura Linney, Eva Longoria, Demi Moore, Esai Morales, Natalie Portman, Giovanni Ribisi, Seth Rogan, Sarah Silverman, Ethan Suplee, Kyra Sedgwick, Michelle Trachtenberg, Usher, and Forest Whitaker.

Since it first debuted on October 1st, the PSA has been viewed over 5,000,000 times. According to all major voting registration sites, including Google, Rock the Vote, and Declare Yourself, over 300,000 new voters registered due to the video alone. According to the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, only about half of eligible voters under the age of 30 were registered to vote in 2006, and only about half of those who were registered actually voted. Per CNN this morning, over 9 million voters have already cast ballots for this election as the “early voting” movement gains steam.
