Director Peter Jackson announced that former “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly will be joining the cast as an elf.

“Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character—the Woodland Elf, Tauriel,” Jackson wrote on his Facebook page. “Her name means ‘daughter of Mirkwood’ and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing!”

The director squashed any future fanboy rumors that the addition of Evangeline is a sign of an elf romance brewing with another favorite pointy-eared Middle Earth resident.

The film follows a father and son caught up in a robo-boxing tournament takes place a few years ahead of present day.

Evangeline Lilly

Evangeline Lilly was so desperate to travel around the world that she began working as a flight attendant. However, the job didn’t stand up to her expectations, as it was terribly grueling, thus she finally quit and ventured into Hollywood.

“I had no money. I was living on tea and peanut butter when I was a university student. I just wanted to travel so desperately that I would have done anything. I did the flight attendant training, which is grueling and hectic,” Evangeline said. “I did the job for one month and then I quit. I hated it so much. I didn’t really get to see anywhere I would go to Germany, and I’d be flying out the next morning. What’s the point of that?” Evangeline added.
