According to Teen First, Selena Gomez has said, “Every day, 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with Unicef in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero”. Her representative added, “(She has) now taken on an official role as an ambassador. She will be involved in educating, advocating, and fundraising”.
Selena Gomez, who is also involved in other charitable projects with organizations like First Book, is currently in Ghana, Africa. There, she will learn about Unicef’s child survival programs in her first official mission since her appointment. On September 3rd, she used Twitter to share the news of the trip with her followers: “Hey guys! I’m going to be in Africa for a week. Hope you guys have a great week, I can’t wait to tell you all about the trip! Love you!”
The Disney Channel star joins celebrities like Clay Aiken, Lucy Liu, Joel Madden, Alyssa Milano, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, Shakira, and Liv Tyler, among others, as an ambassador for the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
