The Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards were held on September 8th in Atlanta and as it was expected the R&B Celebrity Mariah Carey was the big winner of the night. The diva took home top R&B/Hip-Hop artist, hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs artist, top R&B/Hip-Hop albums artist and top R&B/hip-hop album for her multi-platinum set “The Emancipation of Mimi.” Among other celebrities, the Hip-Hop star Kanye West won top rap album for “Late Registration” and also hot rap track for “Gold Digger” featuring Jamie Foxx while Jermaine Dupri – who won top R&B/Hip-Hop songwriter and top R&B/Hip-Hop producer – was named the first recipient of the Otis Redding Excellence Award ( an award which was launched this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Redding’s death ) for his achievements both in and outside the studio.
