Lindsay Lohan has denied having alcohol or drug problems in an attempt to lay to rest rumors that her life is spiraling out of control.

With her mother Dina Lohan at her side, the Mean Girls actress gave an exclusive interview to Entertainment Tonight, parts of which were aired on CBS’s The Early Show on Tuesday morning.

Lindsay, whose father Michael Lohan is now reportedly backing away from legal attempts to get conservatorship over her affairs, fired back at critics who have blasted her for partying.

When asked whether she has any drug or alcohol issues, the 23-year-old – twice convicted of drink-driving and having reportedly done three rehab stints – said: “No, I don’t, no, I don’t.

“I’m happy and I’m working and I’m good. I’m surrounded by great friends now, I’ve weeded a lot of people out of my life. People build you up to knock you down.”

Referring to her mother, with whom she is often spotted out in nightclubs, she added: “It’s nice to know she’s stuck by me.”
