The fiery supermodel, Kate Moss, 34, and boyfriend Jamie Hince, 39, raised eyebrows after they turned up to a party covered in wounds.
The Kills rocker had a black eye while the catwalk queen had scratches and bruises on her face.
Their dishevelled state caused frenzied speculation. But the couple came up with an innocent seasonal excuse for their injuries.
They claimed Jamie opened Kate’s attic to get out Christmas baubles and holly and the boxes fell on their heads.
But the injuries did not stop party girl Kate attending the switch-on of the Christmas lights at pal Stella McCartney’s London store.
A fellow guest said: “Jamie and Kate couldn’t stop chuckling when people gingerly asked about their injuries.
“He said he was on a ladder and she was waiting at the bottom for him to pass down the boxes of decorations.
“But he lost his grip on one and heavy decorations landed on their heads.”
The injuries did not slow the pair down though. They jumped in a car with Stella, 37, and her husband to carry on partying after the switch-on.
