The American singer and actress Jessica Simpson has decided to jump from the pop genre to country.
She participated as an author of a few songs for her new album, which is the reason why she went travelled to Nashville.
“Writing is a release for me. It’s a way for me to tell my story. That’s not to say I wouldn’t record a song that I didn’t write. It’s just that it has been a while since I have opened the book†– says Jessica for Billboard.com.
“I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right†– said the singer.
Jessica also said “I think there is a strength in female country artists†listing Martin McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as some of her musical idols. Now she will be one of them.
The album is planned for release in mid 2008.
