Sheryl Crow’s musical skills are already rubbing off on her young son, according to contactmusic.com.

21-month-old Wyatt is a budding drummer and guitarist.The singer adopted the tot in 2007, and he has been quick to reach for his musical instruments.
Crow says, “He’s very musical. And he has these funny little dances he does. He plays the drums. He gravitates toward the guitar all the time.”

And little Wyatt has also settled in well to life on the road after joining his mum on tour.

The star adds, “He’s been just wonderfully adaptive on the road. I’d love to say my life has totally changed, but it hasn’t actually changed that much. He’s just kind of gotten on board. He’s an amazing little guy in that he’s very social.”
But Crow insists she’s not pinning her hopes on the little rock star forging a career in the music business just yet: “He might be a physicist. Who knows?”

Sheryl Crow was mere hours away from singing the national anthem, and although she’s sung at big events before, the magnitude of performing the final anthem at the last All-Star Game to be played at the “House that Ruth Built” was not lost on the nine-time Grammy Award winner.

“I’m a big baseball fan, and this is very nerve-wracking, only because it’s a hard song to sing and it’s live,” Crow said. “But this is a very special occasion, with this being the last event at Yankee Stadium. It’s going to be exciting.”

The anthem is notorious for its tough high notes and has never been a favorite for anyone, regardless of how powerful the singer’s voice. Crow admitted singing the anthem is a challenge, but one she embraced. Plus, having performed the song before at a Mets-Yankees World Series game in 2000, she has some experience with big sporting events.

“This is such a big honor,” Crow said. “It’s the national anthem. Obviously, everybody knows it, but it’s a special song and it really does get the ballgame off to a start. So you want it to be powerful and full of feeling.”

Produced by Brian Bottrell and being released on A&M Records, Detours was recorded in Nashville and will contain about 14 or 15 songs.

The first single, “Shine Over Babylon”, is already available for downloading on iTunes. Another known track name is “Lullaby for Wyatt”, written for her recently adopted son, Wyatt, who also is a guest vocalist on the song, which is set to appear in the upcoming movie, Grace is Gone.

This past November, the American blues rock singer contributed a cover of “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles for the soundtrack of the film, Bee Movie.

In her first interview and photo shoot as a brand-new mom, the singer coos about spending the past three weeks holed up in her Los Angeles mansion with her just-adopted newborn son, Wyatt.

“The day he came home (on April 30), I felt like the whole house had changed. The house felt fuller,” Crow tells OK! magazine, on stands Friday. “You just feel like nesting and making sure he’s acclimated to the world. It is all so fascinating.”

The Missouri native, who went through a closed, out-of-state adoption and had Wyatt within 24 hours of his birth, says her parents and a “wonderful baby nurse” have been in the house to help out.

“My mom would hand him to me and say, ‘Here’s your mommy.’ It was really poignant (and very startling) to hear my mom call me Mommy,” Crow says. “It took me a while to get used to it.”
