Penelope Cruz’s naked scenes in new film Elegy were all shot behind closed doors, according to Contact Music
The actress strips for intimate moments with her onscreen lover Sir Ben Kingsley, and director Isabel Coixet insisted everyone left the set for the awkward part of the shoot.
Cruz reveals, “Nobody else but the director was in the room. She was operating the camera and we could hear her breathing. There was nobody else on the set ever.
“The set was lit by the director of photography and Isabel operated the camera. Then it was just the sound person, myself and Ben.”
And the intimate setting helped Cruz through one of the toughest scenes she has ever had in a movie: “Telling Kepesh (Kingsley’s character) that my character (Consuela) had cancer was the most terrifying scene for me in that movie.
“It helped for such an emotionally exhausting scene that there were only four people there on the set.”

Scarlett Johansson has described her onscreen kiss with Penelope Cruz “the least sexy thing you can ever imagine.”
The Hollywood pair share a kiss in Woody Allen’s upcoming comedy Vicky Christina Barcelona, but Johansson admitted that she didn’t find filming the scene sexy.
She told US Magazine: “There were like 60 crewmen [sitting around] eating salami sandwiches! It’s really the least sexy thing you can ever imagine!”
The 23-year-old added that she found the media attention surrounding the clinch puzzling: “These characters are in love with each other! Oh my gosh! People are so conservative!”

Penelope Cruz graced the cover of W Magazine for their August issue.
Penélope Cruz tells W magazine about her inner ‘monster’: “I’m always finding very tricky and hidden ways to sabotage any beautiful moment. And it’s something so internal that I don’t think even my friends or family can catch me doing it. But I catch myself doing it. I’ve had that battle since I was a little girl. It’s like, Uh-oh, here it is again, the monster! Go away and leave me alone!”
On Facing Her Fears: “I try not to run away from things because I’m scared of them. When you feel you have to say something to someone, and your heart starts going fast because it could be controversial, I always vote for saying it. With time, you get more at peace with it. I used to get very upset about it, and very angry at myself. But now, when it comes, I just send it away.”
