“I’ve just come back from being in London for five months,” says Kate. “I was homesick, so my daughter and I went back for five months. My daughter went to school there, for a little bit.

“I’ve been working so much, I haven’t really been able to take a minute to do that, since moving to LA six or seven years ago. So, because I was taking a break, it was nice to go home for a bit.”

IGN has debuted the new trailer for the R-rated Warner Bros. thriller Whiteout, starring Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O’Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt.

In the film, Beckinsale plays Carrie Stetko, the lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, who is investigating the continent’s first murder, which draws her into a shocking mystery.

Kate Beckinsale has revealed that she does not want to learn how to drive because she likes being in the rear seats of cars.

The Underworld star says that she will never try for a driving licence because she feels that that would take the fun out of car journeys.

She recalled that how mother used to strap her into the back seat of the family car, and drive her for miles, as a teen.

She revealed that her mother would do so whenever she was upset.

Kate even said that she still found it comforting to let someone else do the steering.

“I love to be driven… When I was a teenager and I was miserable or things were difficult, my mom and I would pile into the car and she would drive me. I’ve always been really chilled by that,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Hollywood Life magazine.

“(Now) I take cabs or friends drive,” she added.

The sexy, black leather – Kate Beckinsale’s Underworld catsuit – all-in-one garment will be sold at Premiere Props in El Segundo, California, on February 7, according to Stuff

Other items from the Underworld films, including a medical book, a serum vial and a serum injector are also open for bids.

Vice President of Marketing for Premiere Props Dan Levin said: “Fans and movie collectors will be truly amazed with the rare hero costumes and movie memorabilia from all three ‘Underworld’ movies that will be up for bid.”

Kate Beckinsale wanted to ban her daughter from auditioning for a movie in case she didn’t get the part.

Producers on Everybody’s Fine needed a young actress to portray Kate’s character as her younger self and asked if Lily, then eight, would try out.

Kate feared Lily might be upset if she didn’t get the part, but the youngster managed to change her mother’s mind.

Kate explained: “They needed flashbacks of all of us being children and they asked me if my daughter Lily would audition. I said no because I thought she’d be on the set, and if she didn’t get it, it would be such a disaster.

“But she insisted on auditioning, and got it, and had her three scenes with Robert De Niro, which I thought was absolutely wild at the age of eight.”

Kate Beckinsale and Robert De Niro stunned pupils at an English school by handing out a gong at their end of year awards ceremony, according to Showbiz Spy

Film director Kirk Jones arranged the surprise for his son and fellow pupils at Davenies School in Buckinghamshire.

The stars appeared via video link and presented a teacher with a lifetime achievement award for her work with cub scouts.

Kate Beckinsale had to re-enact one recent red carpet appearance at home – to make sure photographers hadn’t caught her pantie-less.

The British stunner, Kate Beckinsale admits she went commando to one recent screening and left feeling sure snappers had caught her with her panties off!

She reveals: “It was one of those nights when I wore a supertight dress that you couldn’t have worn anything under, since it would have showed.

“On the way home, I said to my husband (Len Wiseman), `Darling, I think they might have gotten it.’ And so when we pulled in (at home) I made him re-enact the thing with his camera – a sort of crime-scene run through.

“It appears I survived unscathed.”

Inside the issue, the British actress admits she was “frightened” about moving to America – because she was convinced she would be forced to undergo a full body makeover.

Says Kate, “I was very frightened of L.A. at first. I thought the first thing that would happen is they are going to file my teeth down, inflate my bosom and just be mean to me – and that’s sort of what has happened.”

So how paranoid is she? Kate had demanded a body double for her latest film Whiteout because she felt self-conscious about her bottom’s size. The slim 34-year-old star refused to bare her derriere while shooting a shower scene in the movie, which forced the film’s producers to hire a $2000 a-day model to stand in for her.

The British beauty, Kate Beckinsale tells the upcoming issue of Glamour magazine that she believes people are divided into two groups – good cooks, and good lovers. When it comes to her, she would rather fall in the second category, as that would ensure hubby Len Wiseman doesn’t go looking for hot sex outside their marriage.

Kate Beckinsale tells the mag: “I’m the worst wife in the cooking department. I always thought you can’t be good at food and sex, but you can always order the food in. I’d rather he didn’t order in the sex.”

She said: “It was one of those things that was happening but that we tried to pretend was not happening for a long time. Len and I were both with other people at the time, and the whole thing was really difficult.

“We made the film, and it wasn’t until after it had finished that it finally dawned on me how much I liked him. I knew within five minutes of kissing Len that I would marry him.”

Kate – who has a nine-year-old daughter Lily from her relationship with Michael – is thankful Len and Michael get on well, because it makes life easier for her and Lily.

She added: “Len and Michael got along very well before Len and I got together because they already had a good working relationship, and they both liked each other anyway.”
