While at the party with his friends, Mayer was busy updating his Twitter account and wrote:

“Trying to procure as many red lipstick kisses on my face as I can. Trying to gag photogs (photographs) and make a joke.

“Just spent the last hour getting the reddest lipstick on me for a gag. When you see the pictures of me leaving the club covered in kisses, it’s all a gag.”

This is harder than I thought, releasing a work in progress like this. Usually these sorts of things never go further than my kitchen or my car, but it seems to me as the walls are down on all things digital and seeing as I’ve never gone wrong sharing music with people, I consider this an experiment. And a thank you.

Mayer and Simpson dated for 9 months before splitting in May 2007. Since then she has not been romantically linked with anyone.

“She had her mouth open a mile wide when she found out. She just freaked,” a source said of Simpson when she heard about Diaz and Mayer’s relationship. “She thinks about him all the time. She is so not over him.”

But Mayer has seemed to move on without any qualms. He and Diaz spent time together in New York where sources say they got “very cozy” and claim the new couple is very “happy.”

According to a Usmagazine.com, Cameron Diaz, who is in New York filming the comedy What Happens in Vegas, and John Mayer have known each other for awhile. “This was technically not their first time hanging out…they’ve hung out together with friends before. But this was the first time together like this. It’s new and developing…but they really like each other and it went well,” a source explained.

A rep for John Mayer would not confirm the new couple, telling Us, “We do not comment on our client’s personal lives.” Diaz’s rep also had no comment.

Earlier today, Mandy Moore debunked a rumor that she was seeing Mayer, 29. She chalked it up to friendship, but in light of these new developments, maybe she feared the wrath of Cam!
