Reese Witherspoon is following in the fragrant footsteps of Halle Berry, Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears by launching her own perfume.

The Legally Blonde star, who is a spokesmodel for Avon, will team up with the cosmetics firm’s scent experts to create signature perfume In Bloom.

Reese Witherspoon’s fragrance will feature hints of gardenia, magnolia and jasmine, and the actress reveals she chose those specific ingredients because they remind her of home.

She says, “In developing In Bloom, I found myself drawn to the scents of my childhood in Tennessee. We had a great big magnolia tree in the back yard, and it’s that beautiful white blossom that inspired the perfume.
“In Bloom is (also) indicative of where I am in my life today. I’m feeling very strong and independent, and so happy, so full of life. The fragrance truly captures that feeling – it’s very sensual, very romantic and alluring.”

In Bloom will hit stores in November (09).

One woman in three in the world is affected by domestic violence, US movie actress Reese Witherspoon said here Thursday as she promoted a worldwide campaign against abuse of women.

“There isn’t a woman in the world that doesn’t have a friend or a partner who’s actually experiencing some sort of violence against them, so I think although domestic violence hasn’t happened to me personally, I certainly know women who are dealing with this struggle every day,” she told a media conference in Sao Paulo.

Witherspoon, the 32-year-old star of the “Legally Blonde” films and an Oscar winner for her role in “Walk the Line,” is the global ambassador of “Speak Out Against Domestic Violence,” a joint campaign launched in 2004 by the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the Avon cosmetics company.

She was in Brazil to highlight the campaign’s aims in Latin America, including the sale of bracelets which is financing the charity.

Lawyers for Witherspoon lodged a divorce petition with a Los Angeles court seeking physical custody of the couple’s two children and preventing Philippe from claiming spousal support.

It has been reported that the couple did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement, which means that under California law, Philippe is entitled to half of the couple’s fortune earned since their marriage.

The couple, who have a seven-year-old daughter and a three-month-old son, announced their separation in a statement last month.
