“The story revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships,” Richie writes on her Web site. “She must deal with, and navigate the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional.”

The mother of two says she’ll use what she sees in her real life to create the show.

“Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era,” she writes.

“I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special (and funny!). We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!”

Nicole Richie had missed the launch of her House of Harlow jewelry line back on November 10th, citing illness back then already.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Richie told the magazine about her family. “The only thing you want is for your kids to be healthy and happy, and they are. I’m right where I belong.”

In the issue, Richie dishes that her daughter is absolutely smitten with her younger brother. And she says that she’s happy she had her baby girl first. “I’m glad I had a girl before I had a boy,” Richie said. “She just loves him so much.” Joel added that their daughter isn’t rough with her little brother. “She’s very gentle with him,” he said.

After weeks of speculation around whether or not she had given birth, Nicole made the initial announcement about the arrival of Sparrow on her blog. “In the middle of the night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden,” Richie wrote. “He weighs 7 lbs., 14 oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes.”

The reality TV star – who gave birth to her second child Sparrow last week – invited the ‘Boyfriend’ singer to her Hollywood home to watch the Video Music Awards on Sunday night (13.09.09).

As soon as their children – Ashlee’s 10-month-old son Bronx and Nicole’s daughter 20-month-old Harlow and newborn Sparrow – had fallen asleep, the women jumped into bed with Good Charlotte singer Joel to watch TV.

When Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)’ came on, the women started dancing wildly.

Nicole posted on her Twitter account: “We did the ‘put a ring on it’ dance from bed. I don’t think joel’s having the best time!”

She later added: “Beyonce is so good, she had me dancing from bed. I felt like I was there literally slapping a guy in the face!”

Joel was less than impressed, sending a message to Ashlee’s husband, Fall Out Boy singer’s Pete Wentz, saying: “Your wife is at my house right now. I need to leave. The mom squad is giving me s**t.”

They were among hundreds of invited guests and a handful of fans who attended the memorial at the Hollywood Palladium, not far from the nightclubs where DJ AM – real name Adam Goldstein – gained fame at the turntables.

“He was my soulmate and now he is my soul,” model Haley Wood, who dated Goldstein, told the crowd during the 2 1/2-hour memorial. “He is my amazing grace.”

Goldstein was found dead Aug. 28 at age 36.

Nicole Richie’s longtime BFF, Paris Hilton, 28, may be joining the mom club now that she’s serious with The Hills’ Doug Reinhardt, reports In Touch this week.

“Paris would make a great mom — she’s my Angel Princess. I’d love to have some mini Parises one day,” Doug told In Touch at LA’s MyHouse on March 20. “I’d love to have children, that’s what completes your life,” added Paris.

Doug, 23, is also a better fit than her ex Benji Madden. “She thought she could look past his tattoos and piercings, but Paris wants her children to have a clean-cut father,” says an insider. “And they’re crazy about each other.”

Nicole Richie has signed on to guest star on NBC’s offbeat spy fantasy “Chuck,” which begins its second season on September 29.

The tabloid magnet will play a snarky, spiteful girl who went to school with Chuck’s CIA handler, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski), and has to confront her at their 10-year high school reunion. Zachary Levi stars as Chuck, a geek who becomes an unwitting counterterrorism operative.

“This role is a great opportunity for Nicole to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt,” executive producer Josh Schwartz said.

“The Simple Life” Nicole Richie is a first-time mom.

Nicole Richie, 26, gave birth Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to a daughter named Harlow Winter Kate Madden, People magazine reported on its Web site.

The father is Richie’s 28-year-old boyfriend, Joel Madden, of the rock group Good Charlotte.

“We are very blessed she’s healthy and beautiful and so good already,” Madden told People on Saturday. “We are very happy.”

Calls to the couple’s representative at Handprint Entertainment, Richie’s publicist and the hospital were not immediately returned Saturday.

On June 21, 1991, Charlize Theron’s dad returned to their South African home after a long night of drinking. “My dad had a disease,” Charlize, 32, says. “He was an alcoholic.” Charlize says her dad never physically harmed her, but admits “he was a verbal abuser.” So when he fired a shotgun into the then 15-year-old’s bedroom, her mom, Gerda, shot and killed her husband. The court ruled it self-defense. “If my daughter was in the same situation, I’d do the same thing,” admits Charlize.

Halle Berry’s parents divorced when she was a toddler. But her mom, Judith, invited her dad, Jerome, to move back into their Ohio home when Halle was 10 because she felt her daughters needed a father figure. Halle calls that year “the worst of my life,” because of Jerome’s violent behavior. “He abused my mother and my sister Heidi constantly,” she admits. Although she wasn’t harmed, “I was dealing with a lot of guilt,” Halle, 41, says.

Orlando didn’t know who his real dad was
Growing up in Canterbury, Kent, England, Orlando Bloom believed that author and civil rights activist Harry Bloom was his father. Harry died when Orlando was only 4, and family friend Colin Stone became his legal guardian. It wasn’t until Orlando was a teenager that his mom, Sonia, admitted that Colin was actually his biological dad. “As long as I can remember, Colin has been a good friend, but I always thought Harry was my real father,” says Orlando, 30. “I don’t remember much about Harry, but my mother always speaks highly of him,” he says.

Growing up, Tobey Maguire’s home life was far from perfect. At the age of 3, his parents split and he was forced to live with other family members. Says a family friend of the shocking situation: “Tobey is aware his dad made a rash decision which cost him dearly. Charles denied it and appealed to his son for support. “He was no saint,” says Woody, 46. “But I think he’s innocent of that killing.” Charles died in March while serving two life sentences.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Paris Hilton is suspected of leaking pictures of Nicole Richie’s baby shower to a third party who is trying to sell them to the tabloids.

InStyle magazine was granted exclusive coverage of the “The Wizard of Oz”-themed gathering, which took place last Sunday at the Beverly Hills Hotel with most of the gifts being donated to charity. But personal photos taken by guests with their own cameras were reportedly snapped as well.

A source tells the Daily News’ Gatecrasher column that guest Paris Hilton may have been behind photos on the black market for a reported $3,000 to $4,000 asking price.

“All the photos that were offered had Paris right in the center of them, as the star,” the insider said. “They look set up. …None of the money would have been for Paris — for her it’s about the attention.”

Paris Hilton’s rep responded: “Paris was a hostess of the shower, which a large number of people attended. Many of these guests were taking photos with camera phones . . . there is no way she had anything to do with this.”

Nicole Richie celebrated her pregnancy with a Wizard of Oz-themed baby shower at the Beverly Hills Hotel Sunday. It was hosted by her mother, Brenda, her sister, Sophia, and her long time pals, Paris Hilton and Masha Gordon.

Richie, 26 — who is due in January — arrived in a blue-trimmed white dress around 1:30 p.m. She was greeted by life-size replicas of all of the Oz characters — Dorothy, the tinman, the lion, the scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Party planner Mindy Weiss threw the bash, told a source.

Paris Hilton told “The shower was really cute,” She add “We had a Wizard of Oz cake.”

The 90 guests — including Lauren Conrad, celeb DJ Samantha Ronson and Aussie singer Sophie Monk (Benji Madden’s fiancée ) — noshed on “little burgers and pasta,” Hilton added.

The bash ended around 4 p.m.

“The shower was great,” told Conrad. “It was really cute.”

Nicole Richie has still not commented on the gender of the baby, but according to reports, a pair of $50 baby sneakers for a boy and a $50 Tummy T Jack maternity shirt with a picture of a boy on the front were purchased for the party.

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie have decided to get married before their first child is born after all. After the couple announced they were expecting a little one reports emerged of the couple planning to get married before the birth. The reports were denied by the ‘Good Charlotte’ rocker and he said their main focus was the baby.

“Obviously, marriage is in out future. I don’t know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and the baby,” Madden said.

Apparently the pair has decided to wed before the baby is born. Reports claim Madden proposed and Richie accepted. The wedding date is reportedly set for October 13 in Laguna, California.

Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden has said that he will marry his girlfriend Nicole Richie, who is five-months pregnant.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, Madden said: “Obviously, marriage is in our future.”

“I don’t know when or where or how, but right now our priority is our family and is the baby,” he said.

Speaking about Richie’s pregnancy, Madden said: “I’m excited. We are all really excited about it. It’s the best thing that has ever happened to us. It’s awesome.”

When asked if they knew whether the baby is a boy or a girl, he said: “No, we are waiting. We don’t even know. So right now it’s an it, which sounds wrong. We call it the baby. When we talk to it, it’s a you.”

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department had the following statement regarding Nicole’s 82-minute jail term:

On August 23 2007, at 3:15 PM Miss Nicole Camille Richie reported to CRDF and surrendered herself following a July 27 arrest, she was sentenced to serve 96 hours in County Jail. Miss Richie was accompanied by her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley and her boyfriend Joel Madden. Miss Richie was booked and processed into the jail system. Miss Richie was cooperative during the process. Based on her sentence and federal court guidelines, Miss Richie was released at 4:37 PM today.
