Mariah Carey will release her 12th studio album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” August 25 on Island Def Jam, the singer announced Tuesday.

The debut single “Obsessed” has shipped to radio, while a music video directed by Brett Ratner is forthcoming. Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, who co-wrote “Obsessed” with Carey, produced the majority of the tracks.

Carey announced the title of her new album back in May via Twitter, writing, “Bcuz I Love U, I want u to be the first to know the title of my new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” Its very personal & dedicated to u.”

She followed up on June 9 with an excited Tweet about the first single: “Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever,” she wrote. “I love the whole album. I’m completely immersed in it. I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

Mariah Carey has signed up to appear on the television music talent show “The X Factor” next month. The diva will sing her new track “I Stay In Love” on the Nov 8 show, reports thesun.co.uk.

“Simon Cowell (format creator and judge on the British series) loves Mariah. He’s always comparing acts to her. And finally all the compliments have paid off. It’s amazing to have such a big name singing on a British talent show,” said a source from the show.

Thrilled producers are expecting ratings to go through the roof with her presence.

“Mariah is one of the most successful female artists of all time. It’s going to blow ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ out the water,” said another source.

“Strictly Come Dancing” is another British television show, featuring celebrities with professional dance partners competing in Ballroom and Latin dances.

“I Stay in Love” is a song written by Carey, Bryan-Michael Cox, Kendrick “Wyldcard” Dean, and Adonis Shropshire for her eleventh studio album, “E=MC²”. With production team including Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, The Game, and StarGate, her effort has been released in the U.S. on April 8 as a follow-up to her 2005 album “The Emancipation of Mimi”.

Mariah Carey says the 10-year age gap between herself and husband Nick Cannon caused her to think twice about tying the knot.

When asked if she had second thoughts before her nuptials with Cannon, Carey said, “You know what, I did. But he doesn’t act like it [younger] – he’s really very intelligent. He’s a very business-minded person, but he’s also a lot of fun so you don’t really think about those things. It is what it is.

“I’ve been with someone older and that could be a disaster or maybe you have to throw that side away and don’t think about it think about who’s right for you.”

The quartet will be among the 12 stars who will be heard on new track Just Stand Up, which will debut during a 5 September 2008 cancer awareness telethon in America.

Joining the girls will be Mary J. Blige, Ciara, LeAnn Rimes and Fergie.

Music moguls Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Williams and L.A. Reid will produce the track, which will be available as an iTunes download to coincide with the telethon.

Mariah Carey’s post-wedding fantasy was finally realized after Def Jam Records chairman Reid put together the party at his Long Island, N.Y., home on Saturday, according to the New York Post.

A source tells the newspaper Reid “did it up” for the star, hiring a massive team to coordinate the event.
