Britney Spears has topped a poll of the top Hollywood meltdowns of 2007. The Toxic singer beat out competition from Owen Wilson to score the number one spot on the list compiled by American magazine Us. Spears’ public downfall has spanned the whole year (07) and included such incidents as emerging from a car without wearing any underwear; shaving her own head; a stint in rehab; a disastrous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards; a divorce from Kevin Federline and an ongoing custody battle over her two infant sons.
Second-placed Wilson attempted suicide in August (07), while Paris Hilton came third following a tumultuous year which saw her jailed for violating her probation for drink-driving.
Lindsay Lohan, who was arrested twice for driving under the influence and checked into rehab twice in 2007, came fourth, while British singer Amy Winehouse is in fifth place.
The top 10 Hollywood meltdowns of 2007 are:

David Hasselhoff is said to be currently recovering in hospital following a ’severe drinking relapse.’ The former BAYWATCH star ‘fell off the wagon’ and immediately sought out help, and according to his spokesperson, is expected home this morning.
“David had a brief relapse and immediately recognised the importance of addressing it with the assistance of his doctors. He is doing fine and will be back home in the morning.” The spokesman said in a statement yesterday.
However, a source told the Daily Star newspaper in the UK:
“He looked awful when they brought him in. His colour was ashen. It was just so sad. David does so well staying sober and then something kicks in and he’s back drinking.
“Most times he does remarkably well. Then every once in a while he slips up and relapses. Then he has to start all over again.” They added.
Hasselhoff’s career seems to be on the up and up, and following a stint as a judge on America’s Got Talent, he was also yesterday rumoured to be starring in a sequel to the hit cult flick ANACONDA.

The former “Baywatch” stars were in a Santa Monica hotel, just off the Pacific Ocean, Monday night for an event trumpeting the release of DVD box sets of the first two seasons of their long-running series.
They were joined by Traci Bingham, Jeremy Jackson and Donna D’Errico, among others.
The show, which was produced from 1989-2001, followed the lives and loves of a group of California lifeguards.
Pamela Anderson, 39, looked unusually trim as she walked the red carpet and discussed the DVDs. “I’m excited,” she said. “I want my kids to see it and then they’ll know how cool their mom is.”
