The Addams Family star has joined forces with the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) and was scheduled to meet with members of Congress yesterday.

She also penned an article in the Huffington Post which talks about the deep impact victims of sexual violence have had on her.

“They tell me of the struggles they face every day dealing with feelings, fear and shame, being alone, and the hurdles they’ve had to overcome in healing from the physical, emotional and psychological injuries.”

Ricci cited a World Health Organization Report when she wrote, “Victims of sexual violence are more likely to suffer from grave mental health issues than non-victims; the report says the victims are:

- 3 times more likely to suffer from depression.
- 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide.
- 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
- 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol.
- 26 times more likely to abuse drugs.”

And according to her post, the coalition to support sexual assault victims is financially stressed. “Rape crisis centers nationwide are financially struggling to meet the growing number of people who need support,” Ricci wrote.

According to source, the actress said: “I’m not a monkey fan. I tried to be a good sport. I was a good sport.”

“I tried to change my opinion about monkeys early on, I gave myself a good talking to and decided to not be the only pill on set who didn’t like the monkey.”

However, she said she couldn’t keep pretending to like the monkey after it tried to attack her.

“It sort of leapt out and grabbed me during one scene,” she said.

Over the years, pint-sized actress Christina Ricci has become more associated with smaller-budget indie films like Pumpkin, Black Snake Moan and the upcoming Penelope, but now she reveals to OK! that her dream role is a far cry from the quirky films she made her name with.

“I’ve always wanted to play a spy,” she confessed at the L.A. premiere for Speed Racer. “Like in the Bourne movies.”

And it’s just that thrill-seeking desire that drove the 28-year-old star to take on the role of Trixie in the live-action version of the classic cartoon. “Trixie is my kind of girl,” she said. “She’s always up for adventure and does everything the boys do.”

Of course it didn’t hurt that Christina likes Trixie’s fashion sense. “She does kung fu and flies a helicopter but she still has a special super cute ensemble for each activity,” explains Christina. “She’s a tomboy and a girly girl at the same time which made her really fun. I loved my outfits!”

Christina Ricci – who had to fill out a pair of barely-there hot pants for her upcoming role in Speed Racer, directed by The Matrix’s Andy and Larry Wachowski – is full of praise for Biel’s famously fit physique.

“I asked my trainer, ‘Can you give me Jessica Biel’s butt?’” the actress – who starred with Biel’s beau Timberlake in last year’s Black Snake Moan – tells the U.K. edition of Elle. “I want a bigger butt.”

Alas, because of her tiny frame, “they said I couldn’t,” she laments. “Everyone wants what they can’t have!”

She may never be bootylicious, but Ricci – who battled anorexia as a teenager – says she’s learned to love her body nonetheless.

“Young girls have body issues and I was not exception, except that I happened to be famous,” the 28-year-old says. “I conquered it, but it stays with you. I do not starve myself now – my weakness is candy and sweets. It’s my only vice!”

In fact, the Addams Family alum said she given up weighing herself.

“I do not want to waste one more minute of my life feeling bad about the way I look,” she explains. “If you’re obsessed with how you look in your bikini, you’re not going to have much fun at the beach.”

The relationship between American actress Christina Ricci and Aussie leading man Kick Gurry sounds like it’s an odds-on favourite to succeed, with the pair now sharing a love of gambling.

The Penelope star has confessed she is “obsessed” with all forms of betting, including having a punt on the gee-gees and the footy – a habit she picked up during her trip Down Under this summer.

“I’ve learned to love gambling. I was in Australia for a few months and gambling is like a national pastime there. Now I even put on a few football bets and I’m kind of obsessed and into it. Gambling is pretty good,” she said.

Not quite the celebrity endorsement Gamblers Anonymous was looking for, but sounds like she’s almost a true blue Aussie.
