In a brief court appearance on Tuesday in London, Amy Winehouse reportedly pleaded not guilty to a charge that she assaulted a fan. Sherene Flash, a dancer, has said that Ms. Winehouse, the soul singer, hit her in the eye at a charity ball in Berkeley Square on Sept. 26 when Ms. Flash asked to take a picture of Ms. Winehouse. After her lawyer apologized for her late arrival, Ms. Winehouse appeared in the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where she confirmed her name and date of birth and entered her plea. A judge released her on bail and ordered her to return for a hearing on July 23.

Winehouse, 25, was dressed in a summery floral print, low-cut dress, which revealed her many tattoos and her bra strap, and four-inch pink stilettos. Asked at one point, as she fidgeted with her hair, if she was okay, she turned a security guard and said, “Me? I’m alright.”

“Amy Winehouse appears on bail at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday March 17 charged with common assault in connection with an incident at Berkeley Square on September 26, 2008,” said a Scotland Yard spokesman.

A spokesman for Winehouse said: “Amy voluntarily attended a police station in London yesterday morning. She was questioned by appointment in relation to an accusation made after the Berkeley Ball last year.

“She was charged with common assault and will attend a court hearing in the coming weeks.”

She had been scheduled to headline the Rock En Seine festival on Friday, and according to the show’s promoters, they were notified only two hours before her slated start time that she would not perform.

Madame Tussauds said it was the first time the London attraction had immortalised the vocalist.

The 3ins beehive and 5ins heels made the figure, complete with signature black eyeliner, just under 6ft tall.

The singer’s parents, who were at the venue with other family members, were full of praise for the waxwork, which joins other A-list names such as Madonna and Justin Timberlake.

Mitch said he was “stunned” at the “incredible” likeness to his daughter. He said his daughter was in the middle of working at the moment but would go to see the waxwork in the next week or two, when she would be “as blown away as we are”.

He thanked Madame Tussauds for “rising above the general hype, the bad publicity about Amy.

“This is the reward for her musical achievements and her talent.”

The figure captures Winehouse frozen in full song, complete with her tattoos – from the winged ankh on her back to lightning bolt, horseshoe, song bird, pin-up girls and “Blake’s pocket” above her left breast.

The 24-year-old singer performed several of her hits in front of some 80,000 fans at the Glastonbury Festival, managed to mention her incarcerated husband once more (to some fans’ discontent) and was not afraid to throw a punch at a festivalgoer who reportedly tried to grab her.

Winehouse shared her deep love for her husband of more than 1 year, Blake Fielder-Civil, who has been imprisoned for the better half of their marriage, telling the audience “my husband is out of jail in two weeks.”

The frail songstress later climbed down to the pit in front of the stage in order to meet and greet fans and was at the center of a small and as-of-yet mysterious scuffle.

Onlookers said a fan tried to grab her, to which Winehouse promptly responded by throwing a punch.

Amy Winehouse was hospitalized on Monday afternoon (June 16) after she fainted at her London home due to unknown causes. At press time, the singer was still undergoing tests.

“Amy was at home this afternoon when she briefly fainted,” read a statement from her U.S. publicist, Tracey Miller. “Fortunately, her manager’s assistant was there to stop her falling. She quickly recovered, and her father, Mitch, took her to hospital as a precaution. Doctors are unsure of the cause of the incident, and Amy is currently undergoing tests. She may be kept overnight for observation.”

Miller said no other information was available on Winehouse’s condition or the cause of her fainting spell.

Before the incident, Amy Winehouse, 24, had been signing autographs for Canadian fans who had been camped outsider her house all day, according to BBC News.

Winehouse’s spokesman, Chris Goodman, said the arrest is connected to a video that is alleged to show the troubled singer taking drugs at a party in her home in north London.

Britain’s The Sun tabloid in January published still images from a video that it claimed showed Winehouse inhaling fumes from a small pipe. The images were said to have been filmed during a party at her London home.

Shortly after The Sun published still photographs of the video, Winehouse entered a London rehabilitation center.

London’s Metropolitan Police said a 24-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drugs possession. Goodman confirmed his client was in police custody.

“Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is cooperating fully with inquiries,” Goodman said in a statement.

“The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year,” he said.

Winehouse is famous for her hit “Rehab.” She has had a turbulent private life. Last month she was cautioned by police for assault after she slapped a man during a night out. That means no charges were filed, but the incident was placed on her record.

It is believed that Cavalli has approached Amy with an offer of a lifetimes supply of free clothes, in return for her wearing them at her concerts, performances and public functions.

Amy Winehouse’s troubles seem to be never-ending – the singer has now been diagnosed with a contagious, itchy skin disease.

The star, who has recently been pictured with painful-looking lumps on her face, has picked up impetigo – a highly-contagious bacterial infection that causes a blistering and an itchy rash.

A statement from Amy’s rep confirms: ‘Amy has been diagnosed with impetigo, which she has been told can be highly contagious. Because of that she has been put on antibiotics and may have to stay home alone for the next few days.’

But, friends tell People magazine, Winehouse won’t let it get her down.
