During the American Music Awards, Beyoncé was awarded the international artist award. This honor has only been given to very few artists that include Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Michael Jackson and Rod Stewart. The award was presented by R&B singer, dancer, and actor Usher.
Beyonce was teary eyed as she delivered her speech. She says, “I am so blessed to wake up every morning and do what I love to do.” Furthermore, she says, “I don’t take it for granted. I’m so grateful, I’m so honored and I’m so humbled by this award.”
Also, Beyoncé performed onstage with country band Sugarland with her top song “Irreplaceable.” The song was performed in a country/bluegrass arrangement which was the band’s publicist’s idea.
Beyoncé expresses her thoughts on the collaboration. She says, “A good thing about a good song is it can be played in any genre.” She also adds, “”I’m up for anything. I love it.”
Though winning the international artist award, Beyoncé was unable to win any of her three nominations that night.

After she got snubbed at the last year’s ceremony, pop diva Mariah Carey is up for another challenge leading this year’s American Music Nominees alongside hip hop-inspired quartet Black Eyed Peas, California rock veterans Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nickelback, all of them with three nominations.
Even if Mariah Carey led the field last year at the American Music Awards, with four nominations, she was honored only for favourite pop/rock female artist. In 1997 however, she was nominated six times and got nothing. In February, at the Grammy Awards, she was one of the frontrunners with eight nominations, but took home just three awards.
Throughout her career, Carey has won nine AMA awards and this year, just like in 2005, she will be competing for favorite female artist in both the pop/rock and soul/rhythm & blues categories, as well as for favorite soul/rhythm & blues album, with “The Emancipation of Mimi.â€Â
Out of all four nominees, only the Red Hot Chili Peppers, currently on tour to promote their new double album, “Stadium Arcadiumâ€Â, were nominated for their 2006 album, the other three were nominated for albums released in 2005. They will race for favorite band and album in the pop/rock category, and favorite alternative music artist.
The Black Eyed Peas earned nominations for favorite band, duo or group in the rap/hip-hop and soul/ rhythm & blues categories, along with a rap/hip-hop nomination for best album for “Monkey Business.” Last year, the band won two awards for different categories, but didn’t show up to receive their prize, just like many others.
The nominations, determined by radio airplay and record sales were announced on Tuesday, September 19, by actors Tyrese Gibson and Carmen Electra during a press conference in Beverly Hills.
This year’s event, which is set to be a more accessible version of the music industry’s top honors, the Grammy Awards, will take place in Los Angeles on November 21, and will be broadcasted by ABC from the Shrine Auditorium, organizers stated on Tuesday. The big winners will be picked by a survey of about 20,000 listeners.
This year’s ceremony won’t feature the favorite female rap/hip-hop artist category fewer than five artists met the minimum eligibility requirements.
