Longtime PETA supporter Alicia Silverstone has taken off her clothes in a new ad campaign for the organization.

In a series of print and video spots, the very naked (though covered where it counts) actress poses, sprawled out in front of a pool.

In the print version, the words “I’m a Alicia Silverstone, and I’m a vegetarian,” appear above the nude actress. Silverstone says the same words in the video rendition of the ad, also noting that “there’s nothing in the world that’s changed me as much as this. I feel so much better and have so much more energy.”

And here’s her message on PETA’s website:

Like most people, I wasn’t always a vegetarian, but I’ve always loved animals. If you ever have a chance to meet a cow, pig, turkey, or goat, you will see that they are just as cute and funny as your dogs and cats and that they, too, want to live and feel love. They don’t like pain. Now when I see a steak, it makes me feel sad and sick because right away, I see my dog or the amazing cows I met at a sanctuary. I’ve been vegan for 10 years, and it’s the single-most important and helpful decision I have ever made. Physically, the effect has been amazing. Once I went vegan, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, my nails were stronger, and my skin was glowing. I feel great, and I look better now than I did 11 years ago.

Being vegan truly is the secret to my life’s joy and peace. I feel physically and spiritually better than I could have ever imagined knowing that I am doing everything I can to reduce animal suffering with simple lifestyle choices like being vegan, never wearing any products made from animals (like wool and leather), and buying only from companies that NEVER test their products or ingredients on animals.

Superheroes are famed for their extraordinary powers, such as the ability to fly, incredible strength or invisibility. But a new film poll from cinema legends Pearl & Dean shows that the greatest superheroes have a lot of pulling power too.

In a poll of 3000 visitors to Pearlanddean.com last month, film fans were asked to vote for the sexiest male and female superheroes in the movies.

Jessica Alba was the clear favourite in the female category – more than a quarter voted for her portrayal of The Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four (2005). Jessica’s fans will be looking forward to the release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer across UK cinemas this Friday. The popular Californian pin-up is now an established favourite with UK males, after being voted the world’s sexiest women by lads mag FHM earlier this year.

Jennifer Garner took second place for her role as deadly assassin Elektra with 11% of the vote, closely followed by former Bond girl Halle Berry as Storm in the X-Men film series.

It seems many men haven’t forgotten the charms of Helen Slater in 1984 film Super Girl either. She tied with Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl in fourth place.

Christian Bale took second place for his popular portrayal as Batman in 2005 Batman Begins, beating Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman and Nicholas Cage as Ghost Rider into third and fourth places respectively. Brandon Routh was in fifth place – he only got 2% of votes for his lycra-clad turn as Superman in Superman Returns.
