Alicia Keys and Coldplay lead the nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards. Keys has five nominations and Coldplay has four.

Both are contenders for artist of the year.

Other multiple nominees and artist-of-the-year candidates announced Tuesday include the Eagles and Lil Wayne.

The American Music Awards will present 20 trophies in pop/rock, country, soul/rhythm & blues and rap/hip-hop, Latin, alternative, contemporary inspirational and adult contemporary. The awards will be presented in Los Angeles on November 23rd

The talented Ms Alicia Keys will be in the movie history books when she becomes one of the voices behind a new theme song for the forthcoming soundtrack to the new James Bond film, Quantum of Solace.

Alicia will be singing with White Stripes frontman Jack White, on a track which will be called Another Way To Die – the first duet in Bond soundtrack history.

Alicia Keys has reportedly been tapped to sing the theme song for the upcoming James Bond movie, “Quantum Of Solace.” According to reports, other hopefuls for the coveted gig included Amy Winehouse, Beyonce Knowles, and Leona Lewis.

The E! Network’s Marc Malkin is the reportedly the source of the news saying that an “insider” tipped him off. “I believe Alicia is the winner,” he said.

Although the info is being widely reported, the “powers that be” have yet to confirm the good news. According to reports, Alicia’s reps refuse to issue any comment and the movie’s spokesperson is quoted as saying that they still have “no info” on the theme song for the film.

The 27-year-old seemed most at home tucked behind a grand piano, the instrument that provided both her stage name and the backbone of hit ballads such as Fallin’ and You Don’t Know My Name.

Alicia Keys looked slightly awkward encroaching into Beyoncé’s thigh shaking realm. She was far better at the piano, alone and bluster free, performing Sure Looks Good To Me and her Prince cover, How Come You Don’t Call Me. When holding an epic high note and then milking the applause, the crowd was completely hers.

Her latest album, As I Am, sees her edging away from soul towards more mainstream ballads thanks to collaborations with Linda Perry, the woman who gave Pink and Christina Aguilera their biggest hits. Though Superwoman tried too hard for the Girl Power vote, The Thing About Love was a fine tune.

R+b star Ciara has already made a New Year’s resolution – to collaborate with Alicia Keys.

The Goodies singer is so desperate to team up with Keys on a track, she has made it a priority mission for 2008.

She says, “I’ve always thought she was very beautiful and very talented but I’m starting to have a different respect for her and her music.”

There’s a rumor going around that, if it’s true, is extremely troubling. MediaTakeOut.com is hearing whispers that last year R&B singer Alicia Keys suffered from a stroke.

Insiders in the music industry are chattering that early last year Alicia suffered from an unknown illness – which led her to suffer a mild stroke. Word is that the Grammy Award winning singer was in the hospital for weeks.

Luckily for everyone, that the stroke caused no permanent damage and that Alicia made a full recovery from the illness.

Aha…what a lucky guy

Alicia and I finally found the time to finish writing a track for her upcoming album… I have never had a better time collaborating in the studio. The song’s called “Lesson Learned” and I can’t wait for the world to hear it.

This is probably about as obvious as telling you the sky is blue, but Alicia is the most authentic artist of our generation… She’s strong where she needs to be…Not just strong as a woman (there are many strong women out there) but strong as an artist (there are few, regardless of gender). She has the vision DOWN and doesn’t waste time getting there. I collect stickers.

I think the record “drops” in October. Called ‘As I Am.” Insert witty closing line about her being just fine that way.

I hope it will be a great album…

The 62-year-old has enjoyed more than 40 successful years in the music industry and is keen to pass her wisdom onto the current generation of female artists. Ross says, “I was getting ready to give advice and support to any of them that wants that. Because Mariah Carey used to always ask, when I would spend time with her, how to have longevity. “So I am available to discuss what it takes.”

The R&B star, a fervent Hiv/Aids awareness campaigner, insists boys who try to convince teenage girls that lovemaking with a condom doesn’t feel right are dumb – and don’t deserve sexual favours.

Keys says, “That ‘doesn’t feel the same’ thing is garbage… Just don’t have sex then because then he doesn’t know what he is doing and you don’t need to have sex with him.

“Anyone who says a condom doesn’t feel the same is lying.”

And Keys insists there are so many varieties of condoms on the market there’s no excuse for men who want to avoid them.

She adds, “There are so many different types of condoms and so many things and ways.
