About three hours ago a canopy collapsed at an Akon concert at Emory University in Atlanta. The injuries occurred while crews were working about to set up lights on the stage for tonight’s Fall Band Party starring Akon. His drummer and two or three people, including students, were injured. Both fire trucks and ambulances responded to the scene. The concert has been cancelled. It seems no matter where Akon goes tragedy follows.

R’n’B singer Akon has been forced to issue an apology for simulating sex onstage with a 15-year-old-girl during one of his shows.
Last month Akon was filmed engaging in a sexy on-stage dance with a young fan during a concert in Trinidad.
A video of the romp was circulated online, prompting phone company Verizon Communications Inc. to drop its sponsorship of Gwen Stefani’s ‘Sweet Escape’ tour which features the chart-topping artist.
Akon said in a statement, “First, and most important to me, I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I’ve caused to the young woman who joined me on-stage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert in Port of Spain on April 12th.
“It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience. Somehow, that standard was not met.”
This is not the first time that Akon has been caught simulating sex with an unwitting victim on stage - film of the singer bumping and grinding with an embarrassed-looking Tara Reid during a gig at the Sundance Festival appeared on YouTube back in January.
