After her trip earlier this year to New York where she nearly dumped son Sean Preston into a Manhattan street Britney Spears reportedly was considering leaving the Big Apple for good.
She had long abandoned her Gotham apartment putting it up for sale for a reported price of just under $5 million.
Now a report from TMZ says she finally has a contract on the unit – but the price tag may be disappointing to Britney and her accountant.
According to the New York Post’s Braden Keil, the pop starlet’s 4,440 sq. ft., four-level pied-a-terre in the famous Silk Building has gone to contract for $4 million.
Keil describes the property as an eight-room condo, the NoHo pad has three bedrooms and 4 ½ baths, as well as 13-foot ceilings, wood-burning fireplaces, and a large rooftop terrace and solarium.
Its proximity to a busy stretch of Broadway provided local residents and NYU students with frequent sightings of the Britster, whether at Tower Records or the local Starbucks.
She paid $3 million for the place in 2002, after it was listed for $4.85 million just before 9/11.
The New York flat has been vacant for some time – but the building has a who’s who list of celebs as former tenants. Before Britney, previous occupants of the Silk Building have included Keith Richards, Russell Simmons, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and Cher. Source
